Metallicar

'67 Chevrolet Impala

"Metallicar", as dubbed by the Fans of Supernatural, started life as a '67 Chevy Impala 4 door. The beloved car of older brother Dean, is used by the Winchester brothers to travel the country on the hunt. The car was destroyed at the end of Season 1, causing the creator of the show, Eric Kripke to be inundated with letters from fans desperate to know if the car would make a return.

When asked why the Impala was chosen for the brothers Kripke replied "My first choice was a '65 Mustang. My neighbour said it had to be a '67 Impala because you can put a body in the trunk. You want a car that, when people stop next to it at the lights, they lock their doors".

Up to 5 Impala's have been used during Supernatural's production over the past 3 years. The Chevy features a Kanas number plate, KAZ 2Y5 as a reference to the home state of the show's two stars as well as the first year the show aired in the US.
