Born July 19, 1982, in San Antonio, Texas.

Jared attended Madison High School graduating in 2000. He started taking acting classes at 12 years of age. He was also the winner of the 1999 "Claim to Fame" contest at the Teen Choice Awards.

Before his current role Jared was best known for his role as Rory's boyfriend Dean in the TV show Gilmore Girls. He also appeared in several made-for-television films, including Silent Witness, Close to Home and Young MacGyver. He had planned to attend the University of Texas, however put that on hold when he was offered the role of Sam on Supernatural.

Padalecki's big screen credits include the thriller Cry Wolf, and the horror movie House of Wax, opposite Chad Michael Murray and Paris Hilton. He also appeared in Flight of the Phoenix opposite Dennis Quaid and New York Minute with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
