Detective Elliot Stabler is a seasoned veteran of the Special Victims Unit, who has seen it all. He is a father of four and a former marine. Detective Olivia Benson is his partner.

Christopher Meloni

Meloni is well known to television audiences for his portrayal of Detective Elliot Stabler on the crime series Law & Order: SVU.

"Stabler and I are alike," Meloni says "we're focused on our job and couldn't see doing anything else with our lives."

In addition to his work on SVU, Meloni played the duplicitous inmate Chris Keller on the hard-hitting series Oz. He has also appeared in memorable guest-starring roles on acclaimed series such as NYPD Blue.

Meloni's film credits include Runaway Bride in which he appeared as Julia Roberts' fiance. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Wet Hot American Summer, co-starring Janeanne Garofalo and David Hyde Pierce. Meloni also appeared in the 2004 comedy Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.

An avid traveler, Meloni has explored from Turkey to Bali and is searching for points in-between to visit. He also enjoys weightlifting, playing basketball, football, and chess and is a martial arts enthusiast. Meloni resides in New York with his wife and daughter.
